Spud Hopper Barges

CDC owns and operates one of the largest line-ups of spud hopper barges in Australasia. Each unit has been purpose designed and built for CDC to match a specific ‘super long reach’ excavator unit. CDC spud hoppers range in load capacity from 70 to 200cm3 units. The spud hoppers are positioned with the use of spud legs that are lowered and raised to the seabed using the excavators own hydraulic oil supply controlled from the excavator cabin for maximum efficiently. Regardless of the jobsite requirements we are confident that CDC can provide a unit to suit your requirements.

CDC spud hopper barge units include:

Auckland

The ‘Auckland’ was commissioned in late 2007 by CDC (shown at near right under construction) and has an overall length of 24 metres, and a beam of 8m. Auckland is fitted with a 170cm3 hopper and two 15 metre hydraulically controlled spud legs. It carries a new Hyundai Robex 290 LC super long reach excavator fitted with full 3D GPS monitoring for maximum accuracy.

Searaider

‘Searaider’ carries a 25-ton class excavator unit and is fitted with a 125cm3 capacity hopper.

Westpark

‘Westpark’ is fitted with a 75cm3 hopper and two hydraulic operated spud legs. This unit is an ideal configuration for maintenance dredging in marinas and boat ramps and can carry up to a 28-ton excavator unit.
