Client:
Queensland Government Department of Main Roads, Contract No.QT12-109 Maintenance Dredging 2008.

Location:
Wellington Point, Moreton Bay Marine Park,

                  Queensland, Australia.

In early 2009 CDC began maintenance dredging works at Wellington Point for the Queensland Government Department of Main Roads.
As with the larger Wood Channel dredge completed by CDC the project posed its own a set of unique challenges due to the dredge area being inside the habitat area of the endangered Dugong marine mammals.
CDC deployed super long reach excavators operating from their purpose built spud hopper barges. These units are fitted with the latest generation 3D GPS digging aid systems to insure maximum efficiency during the dredge programme. CDC also deployed their work punt fitted with underwater survey equipment so that a real time post dredge survey could be undertaken on a twice-daily basis to alert of any remedial issues to be attended to.
Dredged material was transferred into CDC owned self-propelled Soundchem split hopper barges for transport to the mud island dump disposal area.
