West Park Marina Maintenance Dredging.

Location:
West Park Marina Waitakere City Auckland Region.

CDC is contracted to undertake all maintenance and capital dredging programmes at the West Park Marina complex. West Park Marina has a total of 592 berths (slips) ranging in length from 10.4m to 34m.
The West Park maintenance program sees CDC dredge up to 78,000m3 of material per year. Like other marinas in New Zealand, dredging at West Park is completed under a Resource Consent issued under the New Zealand Resource Management Act. This is one of the strictest environmental controls in operation in any country and it is closely administered with huge penalties for those found failing to meet the requirements under the act. CDC works closely with marina management to ensure dredging is completed within the strict environmental guidelines set down both for both the marina and the disposal dumpsite.
CDC deploys its Sumitomo SH240 LC super long reach excavator operating from a 170cm3 capacity spud hopper barge. The Sumitomo unit is fitted with the latest generation 3D GPS digging aid system to ensure maximum efficiency during the dredge programme.
The Soundchem fleet of 360cm3 capacity, 46m long self-propelled split hopper barges, transfer dredged material to the dump disposal area which is a 28 hour round trip from the marina. The Soundchem vessels are three identical sister ships owned and operated by CDC through out the southern hemisphere.
